EVERYTHING, FROM THE margin of defeat to the offense's inability to move the ball indicated that Saturday's 52-6 loss at Oregon was the Cougars' worst game of the season. The Cougs, however, may get some key o-line players back from injury before this weekend's homecoming game against ASU and might quarterback Jeff Tuel also be ready?

WHEN THE WSU coaching staff wasn't busy with recruiting activities Sunday, they sat down and watched game tape from Saturday's season-opening 39-13 loss against Stanford. Cougar running backs were among those who stood out, said Paul Wulff. But there is also plenty that needs to improve.

PULLMAN -- The Cougars took the field at Martin Stadium Wednesday and Paul Wulff spent the majority of the practice focusing on scrimmage and game type simulations. The WSU coaching staff has been shuffling in and out a good number of guys -- quite a few -- to run series with the 1's thus far in fall camp. Among those getting valuable learning reps today was a linebacking true frosh.

THE UPDATED WEIGHTS for the Cougar footballers are in. The numbers, as they were in the spring, remain striking. There are many who have gained 15-20 pounds, and more, since last year. Then there are players who put on the bulk before the spring, then trimmed and repackaged it this summer to add quickness. CF.C charts the progression from fall of '08, to the '09 spring, to today.
