The Lady Vols held their first full team workout on Thursday – and the only court session this week as coaches are still limited to two hours a week until early next month – and did so with the roster depleted by one with the announcement that Alyssia Brewer would be leaving Tennessee.

After a week that rocked Lady Vol Nation, the following week restored a sense of normalcy to the program as Coach Pat Summitt returned to the court, and individual workouts got underway as usual for the Tennessee women's basketball program.

The Women's Pilot Rocky Top League has been a launch contest this summer with three balls lofted from well behind the arc, led by the spectacular shots of Shekinna Stricklen, who with the help of the long ball from teammates Taber Spani and Tyler Powers, has her FCA team undefeated with a rematch likely looming with DeRoyal.

The Women's Pilot Rocky Top League got a little later start this summer and has been compressed into two weeks, but the fans turned out Monday evening at Christian Academy of Knoxville and were treated to three games, including the first chance to see incoming Lady Vol Isabelle Harrison.

Alyssia Brewer had one stipulation before an interview following Monday's Selection Show – the only opponent in Tennessee's bracket that she would discuss would be Stetson. It was a familiar refrain from the junior class, which has adopted the one-game-at-a-time mantra of its championship predecessors.

Tennessee continued its trend of being a challenging team to scout with the latest surprise contribution being a career-high 22 points from Alicia Manning – including three treys after she had not attempted a single one in SEC play prior to Thursday – to lead all scorers in the 82-60 win over South Carolina, clinching at least a share of the conference crown.

The esteemed French chemist Louis Pasteur – perhaps most well-known for developing the process of pasteurization that bears his name – said "chance favors the prepared mind." That could become a motto for the Lady Vol reserve players – who often are such in name only – as they have been called upon this season to play major roles with Lauren Avant and Alyssia Brewer being the latest examples.

Pat Summitt had plenty of good news to start the week – former Lady Vol Tamika Catchings had time to practice Monday with the team before her flight home and Jasmine Jones, a junior in high school, wants to play for Tennessee. Also, Angie Bjorklund was out of her protective boot and although not back on the court that's a step closer for the shooting guard.
