The Gamecocks opened the third spring of the Steve Spurrier era on Tuesday afternoon, and with Sidney Rice gone to the NFL, everyone wanted to know who would step up to help fill his shoes at wide receiver. Pearl River (Poplarville, MS) standout wide receiver Larry Freeman made an official visit to South Carolina over the weekend, and after enjoying his time on campus, he decided to pull the trigger and commit to the Gamecocks. Freeman chose USC over offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, Iowa State, and Kansas State.

The 6'3, 220 pound Sunshine State native is rated a 4-star wide receiver prospect by Scout.com, but he has helped lead his Pearl River team to a State Championship this season by playing a variety of roles.
