LED BY THREE YEAR CAPTAIN AND THREE TIME ALL-WAC SELECTION SHILOH KEO, WHO WAS VOTED THE 2010 TEAM MVP, the University of Idaho football program handed out its team awards this weekend. QB Nathan Enderle and WR Eric Greenwood were named Offensive Players of the Year, Aaron Lavarias earned Defensive Player of the Year, and several others were honored, including athletes returning next fall.

THE VANDALS CAME OH SO CLOSE LAST WEEKEND TO KEEPING THEIR GOAL OF A SECOND CONSECUTIVE BOWL GAME ALIVE, but lost a four point lead over Fresno State with less than 15 seconds left in the game, falling 23-20 to the Bulldogs in Fresno. This weekend Idaho looks to rebound against San Jose State (2pm PST kickoff) to close out the 2010 season with a win in the Kibbie Dome on Senior Day.

THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON IDAHO (3-3, 0-1 WAC) HOSTS NEW MEXICO STATE (1-5, 0-2 WAC) in a Homecoming tilt in the Kibbie Dome on the campus of the University of Idaho (kickoff at 2pm PST). Senior tailback DEONTE JACKSON and the Vandals are coming off a frustrating loss at Louisiana Tech last weekend, while the Aggies are looking to bounce back from a tough set back at Fresno State.

Four NATHAN ENDERLE touchdown passes, two second quarter 73-yard touchdown receptions by junior wide receiver Maurice Shaw, a second quarter 59-yard TD run by Deonte Jackson, a 52-yard field goal by Trey Farquhar, and almost 500 yards of total offense were not enough for the Vandals to overcome the Wolf Pack and dual-threat QB Colin Kaepernick (230 rush, 178 pass), as Idaho fell 70-45 to Nevada.

The Vandals jumped out to an impressive 21-0 lead going into halftime at New Mexico State on Saturday, looking poised and prepared (including MAX KOMAR rolling over an Aggie defender for a TD) in the season opener for both schools. In the second half the Idaho offense stalled, but the Vandal defense forced a couple Aggie turnovers in a bend-but-don't-break approach, yielding just one touchdown.

This afternoon the University of Idaho announced senior offensive guard Mike Iupati and junior defensive tackle Jonah Sataraka were named to Phil Steele's preseason All-Western Athletic Conference First-Team. They are joined by safeties Shiloh Keo and Virdell Larkins on the 2nd team, junior tailback Deonte Jackson on the 3rd team, senior offensive lineman Bryce Sinclair on the fourth team.

Following Saturday afternoon's loss to Nevada, Idaho's top performers on the afternoon spoke with the media, including true freshman kick returner KAMA BAILEY who had a stellar afternoon as the star of a kick return unit that had by far it's best game in years. Joining Bailey was starting noseguard Oga Faumui following his best game of the year, and starting tailback Deonte Jackson.
