One Last Season for Hines

There might not be a player on the Florida roster that understands the new offense better than Omarius Hines. The redshirt senior has lined up all over the field during spring installation and fall camp. He came to Florida as a receiver and split some time at tight end before moving to running back in the spring. Now, his versatility could be a big part of the Gators' attack.

Hines Hoping for More Touches at Running Back

Position changes usually come from coaches seeing a better place for a player to make an impact. For Omarius Hines, he was the one that saw the opening. The redshirt senior noticed the lack of proven running backs on the Florida roster, and after not seeing the field much at tight end or wide receiver in recent years, Hines asked the coaches if he could start getting touches as a running back.

Searching for Depth in the Backfield

The depth at running back isn't pretty. After only one day of practice in pads, Florida head coach Will Muschamp is optimistic about the position changes.

Hines was Ready to Execute

The time spent on the practice field eased Omarius Hines' nerves. When the fake punt was called in the third quarter of Saturday's win over Tennessee, Hines knew the Gators spent enough time on the practice field to convert the first down. After lining up to take the snap, he knew what was about to happen. Florida was about to steal the momentum again.

Hines Expects Improvement on Offense

One of the bright spots for the Florida offense last weekend was the play of receiver Omarius Hines. Hines caught three passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Playing from the tight end position, Hines is more of a receiver with his exceptional speed and quickness. Like the rest of the offense, he is looking for improved play and expects to see it Saturday against USF.
