The St. Louis Rams announced their roster moves late Saturday night. Two of the biggest surprises were releasing linebacker Bobby Carpenter, a former first-round draft pick acquired in a trade with the Cowboys, and keeping undrafted rookie quarterback Thaddeus Lewis.

There were some raised eyebrows when training camp opened and Larry Grant was lined up as the Rams' starter at weak-side linebacker. Most had figured Bobby Carpenter would be the odds-on favorite to win the job after he was acquired from Dallas after the draft for tackle Alex Barron.

The St. Louis Rams pulled out a 19-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday night in soggy Cleveland thanks to a strong opening act by quarterback A.J. Feeley, opportunistic defense and special teams units and kicker Josh Brown's accurate right leg.
