Two Coug basketballers make All-Academic team

COUGAR BASKETBALLERS Nikola Koprivica and Abe Lodwick have been named to the 2010 Pac-10 Men's Basketball All-Academic Teams. Their inclusion marks the fourth straight season the Cougars have placed multiple student-athletes on the first and/or second all-academic conference teams. Washington State's two honorees are also the second-most among Pac-10 schools.

Missed free throws doom Cougs in OT loss

THIS TIME, THE Cougs came all the way back -- and still lost. Down by 12 to Oregon in the second half, Washington State, led in large part by a high-flying Marcus Capers, erased the entire deficit and then some. But with the chance to put the game away in regulation, and to build a good-sized lead in overtime, WSU failed miserably at the free throw line.

HARMELING: The final curtain

A LITTLE OVER four years ago a mop-topped, enthusiastic, boyish-looking teammate spun around on the revolving chair in the WSU basketball office, looked me in my eyes and said, "I can't wait ‘til I hit the game winner someday!" And lo and behold, last year around this time, Cougar fans around the country had special reason to jump to their feet on Senior Night.

PULLMAN -- Basketball practices at Washington State this week were guided by a pair of sobering numbers: 14 and 24. The first was the margin of difference in rebounding that the Huskies held in their 92-64 rout of the Cougs a month ago. The second was the Huskies' advantage in that contest in points scored in the paint.

PULLMAN -- Senior Night ceremonies should be short and sweet Saturday night at Friel Court. After all, Nikola Koprivica is the lone senior on the Washington State basketball team. It is somewhat amazing that Koprivica played four years at Washington State. In fact, it is somewhat amazing that Koprivica played one year at Washington State.
