THE COUGS HAVE a much needed bye week before facing Stanford on Nov. 1. On Tuesday, head coach Paul Wulff talked about the team's No. 1 priority for the last five games of the season. He also addressed recruiting, and said WSU's long-standing scoring streak that ended on Saturday was never something all that high on his or his staff's list.

PULLMAN -- There was polish and rough edges on both sides of the ball at Washington State on Saturday, as expected from a first scrimmage, but a curious lack of emotion at the start might have been the biggest surprise. Paul Wulff had said going in he wanted to see 20 good plays by the 1's, and 20 more from the second-teamers. He didn't get them.
