Air Force's recruiting classes continue to shrink under coach Troy Calhoun. But the academy graduate believes by being more selective, the classes have gotten better. "Every year it's smaller and smaller," he said. "But I think the quality has increased."

Scout.com continues with its third annual All-Service Academy Pre-Season Football Team with selections for Defense, Specialists, MVPs, and Break-Out Players. Overall, Navy had 15 selections (12 First Team, 3 Honorable Mentions); Air Force had 13 selections (9 FT, 4 HM) and Army had 8 selections (4 FT, 4 HM). On September 5th, the Air Force Falcons will begin their 2009-2010 campaign against the Nicholls State Colonels of the Football Championship Subdivision. Air Force will try to stay perfect against FCS opponents, while the Colonels will be looking for a big upset to spark a resurgence in the Southland Conference after going 3-6 last season and canceling two games due to Hurricane Gustav.

Air Force had a very successful (surprising to many) season at 8-4. The Falcons success is rewarded by a trip to the Armed Force Bowl, Dec 31st, where they will face an excellent offense in the 7-5 Houston Cougars. While the Falcons should move the ball well their defense will have to be at its best to stop the Cougars.

It's Navy week and the Mids are coming off a big win over ranked Wake Forest; they will anchor with confidence. Navy has beaten Air Force 5 straight years and the Falcons want the trophy back. The winner of this game will play Army later this season to determine which SA will take possession of the coveted Commander-in-Chief trophy.
