Cougars feel sense of urgency

A few times under Coach Rose, BYU entered its conference tournament as a bubble team needing to at least advance once in order to have a shot at an at-large bid, but this year is the first time his team has to earn an automatic bid to have any shot at playing in the NCAA tournament. In order to win the WCC Tournament, BYU will have to get over the hump and finally beat some top teams.

Cougars face daunting challenge at Gonzaga

The Cougars desperately need a marquee win, and beating No. 10 Gonzaga Thursday night would certainly qualify, but the Cougars will be hard-pressed to beat the Bulldogs on the road. They expect Gonzaga to be motivated after losing a heartbreaker at the buzzer last week, something the Cougars can definitely relate to.

A special group of guys

After serving a two-year LDS mission to the Philippines, Tyler Haws has returned to Cougar basketball with intangible skills that he feels can help him play a bigger role this year. A little wiser and a little older, Haws feels the leadership experience he's gained will better serve the team, which he feels is a special group of guys.
