For offensive lineman Dan Knapp, the last year has been one full of surprises and its share of ups and downs. During the 2009 season, Knapp suffered the second torn ACL of his college tenure and wondered if there was a future in football for him. Head coach Dennis Erickson decided to switch Reno, Nev. native from tight end to offensive tackle and new life was breathed into Knapp's playing career.

Under head coach Dennis Erickson, positional changes for Sun Devils have been a common occurrence. Ryan McFoy moved from safety to linebacker and finally back to safety, Jon Hargis moved from defensive line to offensive tackle and now junior Dan Knapp is making the transition from tight end to offensive tackle.

Though he signed a letter of intent to Arizona State University in 2007 among a class of more highly touted prospects such as Omar Bolden, Samson Szakacsy, Kerry Taylor and a group of talented junior college transfers, tight end Dan Knapp has steadily remained a player from that class that coaches and team officials believe has as bright a future as any.

He was touted as the sleeper of the 2007 Sun Devil recruiting class, but injuries forced Dan Knapp to redshirt and delay his anticipated debut. The tight end didn't mind going through the one year hiatus. His development during that time, along with injuries at the position, are giving him a chance to display his skills, as evident last Saturday when he scored his first ever touchdown at ASU.
