PLAYER POST-GAME: Allen and Faraimo

A pair of linebackers finished among Idaho's top five tacklers in Saturday afternoon's Homecoming game against New Mexico State. Sophomore SAM JUSTIN ALLEN finished fourth, and sophomore middle linebacker Jonathan Faraimo finished fifth. Between them they had 15 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one recovered fumble, and an interception in the 20-14 Idaho victory.

PHOTO GALLERY: Vandals Sprint Past Aggies

Idaho's much maligned young defensive unit held one of the Western Athletic Conference's top passing attacks to just 14 points Saturday afternoon, and the Vandal offense put together its best rushing effort of the season to amass 271 yards on the ground against New Mexico State. Idaho tailback PRINCETON MCCARTY had a career day, gaining 160 yards on 15 carries to propel Idaho to a 20-14 victory.

Junior cornerback BREYON WILLIAMS (shown here with a 34-1/2" vertical jump) was among a packed house at the Iverson Speed and Strength Center during the Vandal football team's "Night of Champions" weightlifting competition. Numerous new marks and personal bests were set this evening, including runningback Devon Sturdivant's new record of 383-pounds in the clean.

2007 Vandal Football Team Awards

For the second year in a row, numerous Idaho team records fell. Tailback Deonte Jackson set a new freshman rushing record. Shiloh Keo set a new record for yards per punt return, and set a new record with a 100 yard punt return. David Vobora led the WAC in tackles for the second year in a row. And among the 2007 redshirt class, tightend KEVIN SMALL earned Offensive Scout Team POY honors.
