Novikoff, Toomer in Players All-Star Classic

IT'S THE INAUGURAL SEASON FOR THE PLAYERS ALL-STAR CLASSIC GAME which will be played at Arkansas' War Memorial Stadium on February 4th, and two Vandals have been invited to participate in the game. Right tackle TYRONE NOVIKOFF (6-7, 314) and linebacker Korey Toomer (6-3, 235) will suit up for the North team coached by Martin Bayless, with athletes who are prospects for the 2012 NFL Draft.

VANDAL O-LINE: Ready to roll

A WEEK AND A HALF AGO, FOLLOWING THE FINAL SCRIMMAGE OF FALL CAMP, COACH AKEY CONFIRMED a starting offensive line had been selected. The group is enormous, averaging 6-foot-4 and 316-pounds tackle-to-tackle. What the group lacks in experience they make up for with moxie and talent, including a preseason All-WAC pick at left tackle, a JC Gridwire All-American at guard, and a loaded depth chart.

Tall Order Against San Jose State

Senior left tackle BILLY BATES (6-5.5, 280) was honored this week with the Vandal Pride Award for his performance last Saturday against New Mexico State, when Idaho's senior-laden offensive line paved the way for 271-yards rushing in the Idaho victory. Bates and his fellow linemen face an enormous task this week as San Jose State rolls into Moscow with one of the best defensive lines in the WAC.

True freshman wide receiver PRESTON DAVIS and his Vandal teammates are putting Saturday's 70-0 thumping at Arizona in the past. A game that started with some oddities, ended in a nightmare for the Vandals on the scoreboard.
