INSIDE LINEBACKER C.J. MIZELL, who started 15 games over his two years in Pullman, has been dismissed from the Washington State football team following a weekend arrest, a source close to the matter tells Cougfan.com and which WSU later officially confirmed. The latest incident was the final straw in a pattern that had seen Mizell run into trouble with two coaching staffs at Washington State.

LOUIS BLAND CAN'T catch a break. In his return to the field from knee surgery, the Cougar linebacker this spring wasn't ready and was shut down during spring ball. The knee hasn't responded as hoped, and he'll need to have another surgery soon, WSU Sports Information confirmed to CF.C. The surgery and rehab time will effectively end his 2011 season.

PULLMAN – There were a few bodies missing Thursday as the Cougs wrapped up the first week of spring, but the bigger story was about a starting defensive tackle who will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the spring. Meanwhile, the LB corps welcomed back a familiar face, who got in plenty of turns with the 1s.
