The squad thrived at times last season in Mike Breske's blitz happy scheme but the Cougs are looking for a giant leap forward in 2013. PRACTICE REPORT: Cougs wrap things up

PULLMAN – The Cougs on Tuesday held their final full practice before they play for real Thursday night at BYU. The WSU coaches preached fundamentals and technique in a session highlighted by numerous drills and non-contact scrimmaging for the starters and key reserves. Mike Leach emphasized that the BYU tilt is just another game, and there's no reason for the Cougs to feel overly anxious.

DAY 16: Leach cracks whip; special teams woes

PULLMAN–The Cougs came out Sunday lacking vigor, hustle and effort. Fighting sweltering heat, the Wazzu offense sputtered and failed to establish any sort of tempo. And Mike Leach wasn't pleased. He proceeded to make it very clear to the players that if the Cougs are going to go anywhere this year, it will be predicated on effort and hustle. Plus, a ST report and a corner was sporting a new cast.

WSU FALL CAMP DAY 11: Defense steps up

PULLMAN -- Torched for seven touchdowns in Saturday's scrimmage, Washington State's defense rebounded with its most complete practice of fall camp Monday. A unit that days earlier looked disoriented made a litany of big plays despite a front four depleted by injuries. The performance had one assistant coach raving after his unit slowed Mike Leach's Air Raid Offense during the daily team session.
