Big blowout recruiting weekend on tap

Kuli talk takes a very pessimistic turn

WHAT A DIFFERENCE a few weeks make. Back on July 8, Oregon State was feeling positive on the prospects of getting Simi Kuli into fall camp on time or shortly after it kicked off in Corvallis. On Tuesday, Mike Riley threw a bucket of cold water on those hopes, saying he doesn't expect the highly regarded defensive end to arrive until -- at least -- after Sep. 1. The Beavers open the season Aug. 28.

Media Day reflections

WITH THE DAYS NOW IN SINGLE DIGITS until fall camp begins at Oregon State, there weren't a lot of new revelations from Mike Riley at Pac-10 Media Day. Still, some big questions remain -- the status of Simi Kuli and how Jeremy Perry is doing coming back from injury, for starters. Meanwhile, Tom Hansen's "poignant" final year as Pac-10 commish has begun, and fans probably couldn't be happier.
