Young Lions Make Opening Pitch

A crew of Penn State freshmen was dispatched to help drum up support for the program at a State College shopping plaza. See how they did in our exclusive video.

OK, so maybe they're not the most polished pitchmen for the program just yet.

But a busload of Penn State true freshmen (and a few slightly older players) hit a State College shopping plaza late Wednesday afternoon, and did their best to drum up support for the program. They handed out posters. They signed autographs. They posed for photos with kids.

And they were very friendly and polite to everyone they met while asking the locals to be sure to attend PSU home games this fall.

But then a group of the new Lions posed for a selfie, and as they were fumbling to get in the right position, a couple of young ladies -- one wearing a Penn State football jersey -- left a store and walked a few feet behind him.

The players were oblivious, until someone watching them clumsily attempting the selfie suggested they turn around.

They did, and then set off in pursuit, posters in hand. They caught up with the young women, gave them posters, introduced themselves and asked them to attend games.

Again, probably not the smoothest delivery. But in the end, the PSU rookies got the job done.

You can check out the visit in our exclusive video above. It also includes some still images.
