Kirkwood (MO) St. John Vianney tight end Kyle Markway has corralled five offers to date. One of the scholarships extended to the three-star junior came from South Carolina and he got his first taste of the Gamecocks on a visit this past weekend.
He discussed his first experience in Columbia.
"It was a great visit," said Markway. "They treated me the best I've ever been treated on a visit so far. I was able to tour the campus in a golf cart so I was able to see most of the area. The people down there are all nice. I really feel comfortable down there even though it's so far away."
Markway received the utmost attention from the Gamecock staff as soon as he stepped on campus.
"I got great individual time with Coach Spurrier Jr, he noted. "He took me through a lot of the tight end stuff. I watched the spring game, too. It was a great atmosphere for that type of event. There was probably around 30 thousand fans there. They used their tight ends a lot and I really enjoyed what I saw."
"The coaches and the people in South Carolina were great," Markway added. "They made me feel very comfortable there."
Two schools have risen to the top of the list for the Missouri standout's services.
"South Carolina definitely one of my top schools now, along with Iowa."
The Hawkeyes hold a special spot for the senior to be.
"Iowa was the first school to offer me so I'll always have a connection with them," Markway admitted. "I really like Coach Ferentz and Coach Hernandez. The history and success they've had tight ends and their history of putting players in the NFL is also a big plus for them."
Markway has an idea of when he would like to make his college choice.
"I don't think I'm going to make a decision anytime soon," he pointed out. "I still need to talk things over with my parents and coach. I hope to make a decision before the first game of my senior season."
