|Sam Hilliard's Fantasy Scouting Report|
SCOUT ANALYST JOHN BOLLMAN'S TAKE
In 27 games for the Rockies last season, Hilliard slashed .273/.356/.649 with 7 Home Runs. The massive 6’5 lefty hit 42 HRs across triple-A and the majors. Hilliard will likely form some sort of platoon with Ian Desmond, but Hilliard could supplant Desmond if he cuts down on the swing and misses. Hilliard does have 30-40 HR potential but his upside is a matter dependent of getting consistent playing time and limiting his strikeouts.
DRAFT ADVICE AND POSITION RANK
Sam Hilliard is not projected to be worth a roster spot. His 241.62 projected fantasy points puts him at #132 behind Robbie Grossman and ahead of Jake Bauers. He has averaged 2.87 fantasy points in his past 26 games. Our projected per game average is virtually the same. He is projected to average 2.98 fantasy points. His rank based on avg proj (#79) is better than his rank based on total fantasy points. In 26 games last season he was the #140 ranked outfielder.
SAM HILLIARD WEEK 1 AND 2 FANTASY OUTLOOK
Sam Hilliard is projected for 5.92 fantasy points in 2 games the rest of the week in week 1 which only ranks him as the #105 projected outfielder and not a fantasy relevant player. This is projected to be a better than average week with more fantasy points per game than he is projected to average per game the rest of the season. He is ranked above Nicky Delmonico but behind Alex Dickerson the rest of the week. Week 2 will not be as good based on projected rank (#140). He is projected for 8.35 fantasy points.
