|Jesus Luzardo's Fantasy Scouting Report|
SCOUT ANALYST JOHN BOLLMAN'S TAKE
If Luzardo can stay healthy, he could become the Ace that Oakland needs in their rotation. The 22 year-old has a career 2.53 ERA across three minor league seasons with 234 Ks to just 43 BBs. Luzardo made his major league debut last season after missing most of the season with injuries and continued his success into the majors. In 12.0 IP, Luzardo allowed just 2 ER while striking out 16 batters. Luzardo sat 95-97 in his first spring training action of 2020 and showed his premier mix of pitches. Luzardo should be in the rotation to start the season and his stuff will play in the bigs.
DRAFT ADVICE AND POSITION RANK
Our projection says Jesus Luzardo is not worth drafting for the 2019-2020 season but he is a borderline fantasy player. His 7.13 projected fantasy points puts him at #124 behind Eli Morgan and ahead of Dakota Hudson. He has averaged 3.83 fantasy points in his past 6 games, which is more than our projected per game average. He is projected to average 0.25 fantasy points. His rank based on avg proj (#125) is worse than his rank based on total fantasy points. He is overrated if you compare his ownership based rank with his projection rank. At 53%, he is the #90 most highly owned starting pitcher. He only played 6 games last season.
JESUS LUZARDO WEEK 1 AND 2 FANTASY OUTLOOK
Jesus Luzardo is projected for -1.28 fantasy points in one game the rest of the week in week 1 which only ranks him as the #215 projected starting pitcher and not a fantasy relevant player. This is projected to be a below average game with fewer fantasy points than he is projected to average per game the rest of the season. He is ranked above Gregory Soto but behind Jose Suarez the rest of the week. Week 2 will not be as good based on projected rank (#243). He is projected for -1.65 fantasy points.
FANTASY PROJECTIONS AND ACTUAL STATS
The tables below show projected stats (totals and averages) for the rest of the season and upcoming weeks. Below the projection are actual stats from last season.
