Avisail Garcia Injures Oblique

SCOUT ANALYST JOHN BOLLMAN'S TAKE

Avisail Garcia was added to the IL yesterday with an injured oblique. The Rays are confident he won’t be on the IL too long, but oblique injuries are usually 4-6 weeks for baseball players. Guillermo Heredia will most likely take his place in the outfield, he is not worth a look in fantasy.

REST OF SEASON OUTLOOK AND POSITION RANK

Avisail Garcia is not projected to be worth a roster spot. His 47.47 projected fantasy points puts him at #87 behind Marwin Gonzalez and ahead of Ian Happ. He has averaged 2.59 fantasy points in his past 199 games, which is slightly less than our projected per game average. He is projected to average 2.81 fantasy points. His rank based on avg proj (#69) is better than his rank based on total fantasy points. He is overrated if you compare his ownership based rank with his projection rank. At 42%, he is the #67 most highly owned outfielder. Avisail Garcia is expected to come up short of this season-to-date's #47 fantasy position rank.

START AVISAIL GARCIA IN WEEK 24... AHEAD OF WIL MYERS

Avisail Garcia is projected for 14.89 fantasy points in 5 games which projects to being the #55 ranked outfielder. This may be a week you want to sit Avisail Garcia. This is projected to be a better than average week with more fantasy points per game than he is projected to average per game the rest of the season. He is ranked above Wil Myers but behind Adam Haseley. Week 25 will not be as good based on projected rank (#86). He is projected for 12.15 fantasy points.

AVISAIL GARCIA IS A BAD DFS VALUE ON FANDUEL AT $3.1K AND DRAFTKINGS AT $4.3K ON 9/2

He is projected for 8.6 FanDuel points and 6.5 points on DraftKings. Based on the player pool average points per dollar he is coming up -$261 short of $3.1K on FanDuel and -$563 short of $4.3K on DraftKings. Their should be much better options (see below). Barring a significant lineup change consider him a daily fantasy player to fade. Below are how he ranks based on projected fantasy points on both DFS platforms. Look for players with more FPs at lower salaries.
