Collin McHugh, Jose Quintana and Stephen Strasburg are Starting Pitchers Projected to Rise

In our latest rest of season projection there are 17 starting pitchers whose projected rank is much better than their season to date rank. Jose Quintana (#49) and Stephen Strasburg (#25) are a couple starting pitchers who are projected to improve on their season rank. But of all the starting pitchers with improved projected ranking, Collin McHugh is the highest ranking one. The projections say that Collin McHugh is an even better fantasy option than the market indicates. He is an elite starting pitcher worth starting most weeks. Based on ownership percentage (96%), Collin McHugh has a market rank of #33 among starting pitchers. His projection based starting pitcher rank is #6. Even if he is owned in plenty of leagues, he is still undervalued and if you act quickly there is a clear buy low opportunity. Unless someone offers an even better starting pitcher value, we advise you to hold on to him. He is projected for 155 fantasy points in 27 remaining games. His projected average FP rank is the same as his rest of season total rank. The market ranks Collin McHugh behind Maeda and above Mikolas but the projections rank Collin McHugh over Maeda.

There are 7 starting pitchers that have been fantasy starters, that you may need to bench in weeks the rest of the way. Jameson Taillon, for example, is projected to be just the #55 starting pitcher and some owners may have better options. There are only 6 starting pitchers projected to be major fantasy contributors who are widely available on waiver wires. Mike Minor, at #39, is the highest ranking starting pitcher of this waiver wire group.
