The computer is constantly updating fantasy baseball projections and in our most recent update James Paxton is the seventh best starting pitcher. Chris Sale and Corey Kluber are projected to finish above him. Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander are our top ranked starting pitchers. Kenley Jansen is our #1 ranked projected closer and Kelvin Herrera is projected to be the best middle reliever. Middle relievers are often one injury away from being very valuable fantasy closers. Below are our top 60 projected starting pitchers, top 30 closers and top 30 middle relievers. We ranked players based on the projected total fantasy points. We also have their fantasy projection per appearance. In cases where a player is a free agent we have their team from the 2018 season.

Top 60 Starting Pitchers

The #29 ranked starting pitcher is Jose Berrios with a projection of 106 total fantasy points. He only played in 32 games last season so it's not a surprise to see his projected rank greatly improved vs last season. Zack Wheeler is not projected to be as good in 2019 (#33) as he was in 2018 where he finished as the #24 starting pitcher. With 98 total projected fantasy points he is still likely a solid fantasy starting pitcher.

Jose Alvarado is projected to average 2.94 fantasy points per appearance and his projected total of 238 points is good enough to be ranked #15 at his position. But with 300 total projected fantasy points he is still a full-time, elite fantasy closers.
