Jacob deGrom, James Paxton and Sonny Gray are Starting Pitchers Projected to Rise

In our latest rest of season projection there are 22 starting pitchers whose projected rank is much better than their season to date rank. A couple starting pitchers who are projected to improve their ranking are James Paxton (#25) and Sonny Gray (#58). But of all the starting pitchers with improved projected ranking, Jacob deGrom is the highest ranking one. His latest projection based rank among starting pitchers is #3. As of 5/15, Jacob deGrom is the #11 ranked starting pitcher based on ownership percentage (98%). With a lower market rank than projection rank, consider Jacob deGrom to be undervalued. Even if he is owned in plenty of leagues, he is still undervalued and if you act quickly there is a clear buy low opportunity. Owners should hold onto him and probably decline offers unless there is an even better starting pitcher option available. Of the 20 98% owned starting pitchers, he is ranked #3. He is projected for 173 fantasy points in 23 remaining games. He has a lower rank (#3) based on projected fantasy average. The market ranks Jacob deGrom behind Corbin and above Scherzer but the projections rank Jacob deGrom over Corbin.

There are 13 starting pitchers who are expected to trend down in fantasy production. Matt Boyd, for example, is projected to be just the #60 starting pitcher and some owners may have better options. There are only 5 starting pitchers projected to be major fantasy contributors who are widely available on waiver wires. At #24, Tanner Roark is the highest ranking one.
