Top Fantasy Closers: Kenley Jansen, Roberto Osuna, and Aroldis Chapman in 2019

The computer is constantly updating fantasy baseball projections and in our most recent update Kenley Jansen is the number one closer, followed by Roberto Osuna and Aroldis Chapman. Seranthony Dominguez and A.J. Minter are not in the very upper tier of closers, but they are still going to be starters in most fantasy leagues. Max Scherzer is our #1 ranked projected starting pitcher and Ryan Brasier is projected to be the best middle reliever. The tables below show projected rankings based on total fantasy points (along with their per appearance fantasy projection). We have the top 60 starting pitchers, top 30 closers and top 30 middle relievers. In cases where a player is a free agent we have their team from the 2018 season.

Top 60 Starting Pitchers

The #40 ranked starting pitcher is Shane Bieber with a projection of 86 total fantasy points. He only played in 20 games last season so it's not a surprise to see his projected rank greatly improved vs last season. Eduardo Rodriguez is not projected to be as good in 2019 (#55) as he was in 2018 where he finished as the #35 starting pitcher. With 66 total projected fantasy points he is still clearly worth a roster spot and will contribute.

Top 30 Closers

Kenley Jansen is projected to average 5.18 fantasy points per appearance and his projected total of 334 points is good enough to be ranked #1 at his position. In 2018 he was just the #7 ranked player at the position. He could be someone worth slightly more than you might think in 2019. One player who is expected to slip in the fantasy closers rankings is Shane Greene who last season was #12 but is projected to be #26 this season. With 179 total projected fantasy points he is still clearly worth a roster spot and will contribute.

With 34 total projected fantasy points he is still clearly worth a roster spot and will contribute.
