Taylor Hall Is (Not) a Must Start in Week 16?

As you may have noticed we have transformed Scout into a data and stats driven service geared towards helping invested fans make the right decisions on a daily basis. This is our new Fantasy Scouting Report that we produce for each fantasy relevant player. We treat them like a stock and report their value in season long fantasy, the current fantasy week, and if applicable, on FanDuel and on DraftKings. We establish what is expected of the player based on fantasy ownership %, start %, and DFS Salary and see if our proprietary forecasting model projects a better or worse than expected performance. For complete recaps of the best and worst values for each market (season, weekly, daily), injury reports and team outlooks be sure to check out the new Scout.

When compared to other left wings in week 16, Evander Kane (7.6 FP), Jeff Skinner (6.4 FP), Johnny Gaudreau (14.2 FP), Micheal Ferland (6.6 FP), and Artemi Panarin (11.3 FP) are all projected for fewer points than Hall but are starting in more leagues. Starting in 23% of leagues he is expected to produce 6.1 fantasy points (WK 16). It should be a very good week 16 as he is projected to be the #3 left wing. His per game projected FP average is 3.8 which is better than his actual per game average (2.5).

He is projected for 15.13 fantasy points in week 16 (#3 LW) in 4 games.

Taylor Hall is projected to be the #4 rated player of 7 left wings who are owned in 100% of leagues. If you sort these 7 players based on their actual fantasy production and then by their current start percentage, he is the #6 rated player. Based on projections, he is trending up slightly. He is projected for 134 fantasy points in 37 remaining games. His projected average FP rank is the same as his rest of season total rank. The market ranks Taylor Hall behind Panarin and above Laine but the projections rank Taylor Hall over Panarin.

He does not score as many goals as you might expect given his shots on goal projection.

Hall is not in the 1/11 DFS player pool, but one player who is in the Sportsline FanDuel optimal lineup is Kyle Connor, and Matthew Tkachuk is in the DraftKings optimal lineup.
